Ven Mi Amor
The Nathan Muus Band
Recorded at River Arts
Minneapolis, MN USA
This Latin ballad is taken from a practice session video in the mid 80’s at River Arts studio, Minneapolis, MN, preceding a recording session with David Rivkin (Prince) engineering. It is essentially the same core lineup of musicians descended from the Cortez contemporary rock band (who were descended from the Tex-Mex style "Cortez New Generation" band): Nathan Muus (vocals/woodwinds/guitar), Howard LaBelle-Zapata (vocals/bass/guitar) and Bryan Rossi (keys). Here they are joined by Mike Rivard on bass (who is also on the Ahbleza video), Jose Medina (vocals) and Ruben Adon (congas). Rodger Hernandez fills in on drums, as Dan Cortez had moved to Texas. The song was written by Nathan, like a good number of other originals, and the band had a hand in the arrangement. The studio version of this song will be found on Nathan’s web, and features in addition to the afore mentioned musicians, guitarists Jim Behringer (Prince, Laura Branagan)- also featured on the CD song "When Will Wars End?" and Fatty Garza (Flaco Jimenez, Freddy Fender).
